Star Colt Written By added yet another Group win to his burgeoning CV at Caulfield on Wednesday and in doing so the crack youngster confirmed he remained right on target for his major Spring target the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes 1200m.
The Grahame Begg trained son of Written Tycoon turned the Group 3 Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) into nothing more than a procession as he totally dominated the race from the front to defeat Danehill Stakes winner Encryption by one and a quarter lengths with another two and three quarter lengths back to Vain Stakes winner Toni Nicconi in third.
Begg suggested post race that the horse was about 90% right yesterday and should improve again from this race to reach his peak in the Coolmore in two and a half weeks time on Derby Day.
Written By has now won six of his seven career starts including four stakes wins them being the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m), Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m), Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) and yesterday’s Group 3 Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m). The Colt’s only defeat coming on a rain affected track in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m). He’s now three from four at 1200m along with his three other wins at 1000m (twice) and 1100m (once). He’s undefeated first up, undefeated second up and undefeated on Good rated tracks
